This table isn’t my best work, but I was working without tools and on a limited time frame. My fellows and I gathered some excellent pine spars to use with the table. They were of uniform diameter, limited taper, and fairly straight. In addition, with very little rot, the pine spars were quite strong. I suspect I could use this table as a bed, if I so wished. Sleeping on this table beneath the stars sounds quite pleasant actually.
The problem with the table construction was two-fold: I lacked tools and rope. While I was able to claim some rope from Kel and Skefil, it was really only enough to secure the main A-frames for the table. In order to secure the spars for the table surface itself, I had to use foraged reeds and strips of birch bark. Without proper curing, this makeshift rope split and cracked, making the table loose and unsightly.
Overtly, the table was to provide a proper meeting place for our party to gather for the summit with Faewalkor. Covertly, I have an additional use for the table. I fear Mord will attack Faewalkor, and the table will provide me a brief place to hide should a fight break out. In addition, I could slip items to Fura and Víðarr if needed.
I believe I could craft a better table, but I need proper tools. Faewalkor has promised to make me those tools in exchange for clearing his workshop of the obsidian spider. Considering my fear of tight spaces and my lack of combat experience, I know not how I can help with this problem. I’ve tied myself to those around me, but perhaps I should implore Víðarr to train me in the use of my fishing knife in a more martial manner.
